An example of this is in  2006 a Dutch tabloid took photos from a photographer named Adam Curry. Under the Creative Commons, the court rules in favor of Curry but the tabloid was able to escape fines for as long as they did not repeat the offense.

My stance on remixing is somewhat different, and supports the Creative Commons effort of you may use a material as long as you credit the author, and you make no money whatsoever from remixing. This combines with what Lawrence Lessig (founder of Creative Commons) said in his talk about not limiting the imagination of others, but also it lets people use others work and making more creative things.

My concept of copyright is an artist or whatever getting credits to them as others use their work and DO NOT make a profit off of it.

1. Too much information on the front page. Portfolio tab should be renamed to drawing portfolio. Application process was difficult to find due to scrolling issues.
2. Mostly, but the photography section should be moved into some other category.
3. Logically starting on the front page, then once finding something they want to learn more about then they click on another page.  Mostly, users could find what they need, but it may take a little longer, like the application process.
4. Pictures on the left side were distracting from getting the information when entering the site.

Observations

Jazz first stayed on the homepage reading the information (15 s). Maybe getting bored from the big block of text moved into the sub categories. First viewing 2D and 3D art for a few short moments (8s total), he then moved onto the gallery where he scrolled through the pictures and looking for the one with the green frog(15 s). Then going back to the main page and others looking for how to apply (10s).

After Interview

Went to portfolio after 2D and 3D art, for about 4 or 5 seconds.

The sitemap from my AP art site was shortened down alot from my original idea of over 10 pages on the website. To make navigation easier, I got rid of all pages that were not doing much and combined them into one.  After I had made a sitemap I made my menubar which was very simple to make after making an easy sitemap. With some more design tactics learned along the way like blockquotes to changing the background colors, I am now working on how to get the text and pictures to fit just right.

But I certainly think that I have made somewhat of an improvement to the design and accessibility portion of when I redesigned it. Here is the new picture:

The main things you can obviously tell from the design perspective that I used were the contrasting white and dark colors, and the proximity of the banner and the text. But 2 of the things that you may have not noticed was the size of some of the texts that also contrasted. From the average view of a non-design perspective, you think oh, that looks nice, but some of the things that I put on there such as varying text sizes may come unnoticed. for instance, the title is obviously larger than everything else, for you want the reader to go to the website look and the title, and know exactly what the website is about, and they can also look at the picture next to it to further emphasize the title. Another thing is the extending lines of the chess board. When you first visit the page you loo at either A: The title, or B: The picture. Well, the extending lines flow the picture to the separate links of the website to ensure the user maintains easy accessibility.

As a class we do not need all of the web hosting features of all of the companies, although it would help to have most of them. The main things we need are:

-          A custom domain name. Pretty much all of the companies already have this

-          Things like PHP, and MySQL languages are enabled

-          Email. Not as important, but it is a nice feature to have some way to contact the owner of the website.

-          A fairly good uptime. We are not making money from these sites, so it is not really crucial we need high uptime, but it is helpful

-          Normal to high bandwidth. Anything but a low bandwidth will be very helpful to access our site. Unlimited bandwidth would be even better.

-          Cheap is better. Cheaper the site, the better.

-          Normal to unlimited hosting space. Not sure how much space we need for this class, but the main thing is we just don’t want to have too little.

IX Webhosting like the others also have almost all the features we need to complete this class, although it is quite a bit cheaper. My family uses this website for our email server, but I have never tried hosting a website with it. 

Final Choice: Startlogic

My top 2 are going to have to be Startlogic, or IX Webhosting. It all depends on the price, even though it is just a 3$ difference. If we can spend that extra 3$ more per month, then it will have to be Startlogic because it has almost all of the things that I listed at the start and although IX webhosting is great and also has most of the features we need, Startlogic just has more options. For instance Startlogic has a seperate forums, and webmail. But if you can spare those extra 3$, my final choice has to be Startlogic.
